On 13 September, in the presence of W Bro Martin Smith MetGInsp, South Africa Lodge held a meeting to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Lodge whilst also celebrating the CLA’s biennial Festival.

First off, W Bro Martin Smith presented W Bro James Dow with a 50-year certificate. W Bro Kimon de Ridder then gave a very informative history of the 75 years of South Africa Lodge and some of its more notable members.

W Bro Ken Poege then gave a brief talk about the founding and work of the CLA.

And finally W Bro Mike Neville gave an illustrated talk on the interactions between Masonic members of the authorities and criminals – some of whom were also Masons. At the conclusion of the meeting, the Brethren retired to the Grand Connaught Rooms for a sumptuous banquet.
